In my opinion, the “Environmental Education for Sustainable Development” project being implemented by the Secretariat of Public Education in Tlaxcala, Mexico is a highly commendable initiative. A few key points on why I view it positively:

Holistic approach: Addressing sustainability across the four core pillars of food security, animal welfare, ecology, and energy savings demonstrates a well-rounded and systemic understanding of environmental challenges.
Educational focus: Targeting knowledge acquisition, attitude formation, habit development, and value cultivation among students is a smart strategy for driving long-term behavioral change.
Multi-stakeholder engagement: Involving schools, NGOs, community groups, and aligning with higher-level policy frameworks increases the project’s reach and potential for impact.
Alignment with sustainability goals: Linking the initiative to the state/national development plans as well as the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals enhances its relevance and strategic importance.
Potential for scalability: If successful, this model could be replicated in other regions, making it a valuable contribution to the broader sustainability movement in Mexico.
