FAVA365 – Festival de Artes de Vilanova d’Alcolea – Vilanova d’Alcolea Arts Fest
FAVA365 is a multidisciplinary art festival that was born with the aim of revitalizing a town and encouraging culture. A participatory and learning process that includes a series of activities and actions on a specific theme, distributed over a year and ending in a weekend as a celebration, full of art, partying and participation.The main challenge is to stimulate the cultural life of a small town of 575 inhabitants. It is intended to promote art (plastic arts, performing arts, musical arts and visual arts) through a participatory and learning process that spans the entire year.
The objectives are: a) to achieve a high degree of participation at the local level, b) to be a learning process for the town, c) to bring Contemporary Art closer to the residents of Vilanova d’Alcolea, d) to promote and beautify the town to increase its tourist attraction, and e) diversify the lines of financing.
FAVA365 wants to be a multidisciplinary art festival that will deal with a specific theme in each edition. Interventions from the performing, plastic, visual arts… (training workshops, collaborative artistic projects, gatherings, performances, exhibitions, visits, excursions, artistic residences, etc.). There are 365 days in the year, because throughout the year there will be interventions. A process of formation, enjoyment and approximation to the world of the arts. Understood as a learning journey both individually and collectively and of transformation of the landscape. Like all processes, it will have a final objective (a result): a big weekend (in the month of April) where what is known, assimilated and created during the 365 FAVA days will be shown, participated in and enjoyed. Claiming the process, FAVA365 is a different festival. It was born as a participatory project that will have the involvement of different actors who will collaborate with the design, programming, evaluation or forming part of the activities and actions that will take place during the year.
Implementing FAVA365 in Fanzara require resources such as time, infrastructure, and personnel, especially the promoters. Cultural rural tourism is a development tool for many rural and isolated areas to supplement traditional industries often in decline. The town board of Vilanova d’Alcolea provided a small budget for the project, but additional resources may be needed depending on the project’s scope. These could include taxes such as income tax, road tax, etc.
The main benefits and contributions of the project FAVA365 to the town of Vilanova d’Alcolea are that it has enabled young people to express themselves through art, transformed the city, and become an open outdoor gallery. It involves an effort throughout the year, although there is a specific event: the big weekend.
The project FAVA365 has successfully united the village. However, there are some limitations and risks associated with it, such as the need for funding.
The transferability of the FAVA365 project to other towns in Europe also depends on the availability of resources and investment.
